So far this season, baseball games are running longer than any time in the history — on average, nine-inning games are more than a half-hour longer than they were 40 years ago. The reasons are varied — from batters and pitchers taking longer to set up to TV timeouts prolonging the gap between innings — and there doesn’t appear to be any change on the horizon.
