Ana Kessel, an intern at Insomniac Games' studio in Durham, lost a leg when struck in a hit-and-run accident on Nov. 11. Since then, video game companies from Epic in Cary to studios in Los Angeles, have pitched in to help Kessel pay medical bills and recover. One anonymous Gears of War fan even donated $20,000. In an exclusive interview with WRALTechWire, Kessel says she is amazed by what has happened. "I read every article that was written about me, and watched as I became a 'celebrity' from my hospital overnight. This is the kind of thing that you only see happen in movies, so it's been pretty surreal."
