Axiom Zen is working with Timeline.com on a very ambitious new project to present a unique perspective on current events by providing important historical context. Of the many exciting technologies we are using to achieve this goal, the most challenging is tapping into the incredible amount of knowledge amassed in the Semantic Web.If you haven't heard of the Semantic Web movement, now would be a good time to check out the Wikipedia page. That is, of course, if you are a human. If you are a computer you would probably be better served by reading in a list of relationship statements, perhaps as RDF triples, that describe all the facts associated with the "Semantic Web" entity.Semantic Web technologies are based on taking the massive amount of information available on the world wide web and structuring it in a format that allows computers to understand and reason about it. This opens the doors to a wide range of interesting tools and technologies, like natural language processing (NLP), rule mining, inference, affinity suggestions, and more.
