Hello everyone, I’d like to announce the second official version of JVine.

This version introduces some new features and improved stability compared to the initial release and I’m happy to say it’s the prettiest GUI I’ve ever made in terms of java applications.

So what’s new?

In developing this version of JVine I did not any cut corners in the user interface. The original was less than pleasant and personally I did not find it appealing at all. But yet with my knowledge of design it was all I could do.

I reached out to my good friend for help, she created the beautiful design of the website and the application for this version of JVine.

(You can contact her for hire here http://dmxt.org/portfolio/)

JVine now has the ability to convert your downloaded Vines into animated gifs at the click of a button, this feature is still being worked out and it will rely on your feedback for improvement. Currently, the GIFs are saved at a quality of 45% to try and keep file size low. Eventually I plan to implement loss-less APNG support but I’m still researching a good way to go about it.

As you can see, some turn out well…

… while others not so much.

I hope to have  these issues resolved after the initital round of bug testing, hopefully I’ll be able to soon reduce the size of the output by a larger margin while retaining the quality (hence looking into APNG)

What can you do to help?

If you wish to contribute to JVine, please be sure to report any bugs or issues over on the tracker at

https://github.com/Codeusa/JVine. This will help me quickly fix issues and ensure it works across all platforms without issue.

You can also spread the word by telling all your friends about my free service and getting them to use it for their Vine-to-GIF needs.

JVine will always remain free and I will not display any banner ads on the site whatsoever. JVine was made for the end user and I will respect them in that fact. If you wish to support JVine you can do so by clicking the donate button at the bottom of the page.

An already noted issues is Java is caching resources (such as previous downloaded videos), and while attempting to redownload a cached video will bottleneck the application. This will hopefully be fixed soon but for now I recommend turning off java caching. See how here

In Closing

Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope your experience using JVine was as pleasant as mine making it. You can access it here:
