There is nothing like the primal fear and awe from witnessing a nuclear weapon in action. Most people are vaguely aware that nuclear tests occurred throughout the twentieth century by some of the world’s most powerful nations (mainly the United States) but most people when asked how many usually think not many. This time lapse, created by Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto, goes a long way in fixing that. The result is an unsettling look at our collective obsession with destruction between 1945 and 1998:
