The Software Engineer Position

Soylent’s engineers build software to help get Soylent into customers hands as quickly and easily as possible. You’ll be tasked with creating tools to help with many aspects of e-commerce companies that operate at our scale. Projects in our pipeline include creating a robust order management system, integrating various data sources from 3rd party services into our backend databases, improving our internal business intelligence reporting tools, implementing processes to make our operating teams more effective, growing our e-commerce management tooling, and more.

We try to be as language agnostic as possible, choosing to work with the best tools and languages for the job (Although we really like Python and JavaScript). Scaling to meet consumer demand for Soylent will require engineers with knowledge in diverse areas such as building out our internal dev-ops tools or working closely with UX designers and frontend engineers to create great software experiences.

Responsibilities - Design and develop software with high level scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, etc. - Integrating with existing databases and APIs for payments and shipping - Building internal APIs for use by our frontend clients - Selecting frameworks, packages, and services - Securing the data and privacy of all of our customers - Site analytics and usability testing - Working closely with UX designers, frontend developers, and 3rd parties - Building out our internal databases, both relational on NoSQL - Building devops and QA tools to increase internal development speed, reliability and efficiency - Ownership of projects that interest you

Skills - Experience building things with high level scripting programming languages like JavaScript and Python. - The ability to make pragmatic engineering decisions in a short amount of time
